A FEW THINGS TO KNOW
Terms of use.
The practical ground rules for using Inboxed and this website.
You stay responsible for your mailbox
Inboxed suggests ways to organize email. AI classifications can be wrong. Review proposed changes, understand the permissions you grant, and make backups where needed before applying actions or enabling automation.
1. The project
Inboxed is an open-source email organizer maintained by Kryštof Marval and contributors. It runs on your computer and connects to Gmail or a configured IMAP provider. This website provides project information, documentation links, and privacy disclosures. Inboxed is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
2. Open-source license
The software is distributed under the GNU General Public License, version 3, as included in the repository. Your rights to run, study, modify, and distribute the software are governed by that license. These website terms do not restrict or replace rights granted by the software license. Third-party dependencies and models have their own licenses.
3. Responsible use
Connect only mailboxes you own or are authorized to manage. Comply with applicable law and your mail provider’s terms. Do not use Inboxed to access another person’s messages without permission, misuse credentials, evade provider limits, or interfere with services.
You are responsible for your local installation, device security, account credentials, configuration, data backups, and any modifications or extensions you run. Keep local models and dependencies updated as appropriate for your environment.
4. AI suggestions and mailbox actions
Model output is a suggestion, not a guarantee of correct classification or a substitute for your judgment. Review the subject, sender, preview, category, tags, and proposed action before approval. A scan saves proposals without applying mailbox changes.
With write access, applying actions can change labels, archive messages, or move them to Trash. Automation can apply eligible actions without individual review when you explicitly configure and invoke it. These operations can affect important messages. Provider retention policies may permanently delete items left in Trash. Inboxed does not provide a universal undo mechanism.
5. Third-party services
Google, your IMAP provider, GitHub, Cloudflare, Ollama, and model or dependency providers operate independently. Their terms, policies, availability, and limits apply to their services. Gmail access depends on your authorization, Google’s OAuth controls, and any applicable administrator restrictions. The availability of this website does not imply that Google has verified or endorsed Inboxed.
Service changes, outages, revoked permissions, or API limits may affect functionality. Use of external services can carry charges or requirements set by those providers.
6. Privacy
The Inboxed privacy policy explains the data accessed by the app, local AI processing, saved history, Google permissions, and how to revoke access or delete local data. Review it before connecting a mailbox. Do not post message contents, tokens, passwords, or local database files in public support issues.
7. Warranty and availability
The software’s warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability are set out in its GNU GPL license, including sections 15 and 16, subject to applicable law. The software and website are provided as available, without a promise of uninterrupted access, error-free classification, or recovery of lost data. Nothing here excludes rights or protections that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
8. Changes and contact
Project functionality and this website may evolve. Updates to these terms will be published here with a new effective date. Changes to website terms do not remove software rights already granted under the GNU GPL.
For questions or support, use the Inboxed issue tracker. For a sensitive concern, first ask for a private contact route without posting sensitive information.
